At Footstools & More we produce footstools in a huge range of different designs and shapes. However, one of the most popular footstools, for which there is constant demand, is the ottoman. It is so named because the design originated many years ago in Turkey, or as they like to call it now, Turkiye, in the days of the Ottoman Empire.
An ottoman, in general, is bigger than something such as a drum or square footstool, and as such is the perfect answer when you have husband and wife who both want to put their feet up at the same time. In fact, with some of our larger ottomans you can get three pairs of feet on them.
Impervious To Staining
Many of our customers choose a black ottoman in leather, particularly if they have kids or a dog or cat. This is because the leather covering is almost impervious to staining and scratching, whether that is by kids jumping up and down on it, the cat scratching it, the dog sleeping on it, or some husband – spilling a glass of red wine on it. You can just get a damp cloth and wipe it up, and nobody will be any the wiser. That is one very big advantage of a leather footstool, ottoman or not.
When you have people around for a party, a black ottoman is also perfect for extra seating. All the footstools that we make are exceptionally strong, and a large ottoman will easily hold three people without any trouble.
But it’s not just that. An ottoman also has a lid, and because it is larger than your average footstool it will hold all sorts of stuff. Books, magazines, DVDs, CDs, a laptop or two, mobiles, remotes, playing cards, a chess set or Monopoly – all right there when you need them and out of sight when they are not in use.
Quite a number of our customers will use a leather footstool or ottoman in the bedroom as well. It makes the perfect seat for the lady of the house to sit on at the dressing table when putting on the lippy and all the rest of the stuff, and you can also use it to store sheets, blankets, an extra couple of pillows, and possibly a small bottle of brandy for that last minute nightcap. Perfect!
